The focus of production metrology is micro and nano testing. It includes surface characterization, 3-D coordinate measurement and industrial image processing for optical quality control.

The core competencies of control engineering are the modeling, observation and control of non-linear, unsafe dynamic systems. This work area deals with mechatronic, opto-mechatronic, micro-optical and acoustic systems.

Industrial and medical image processing deals with optical component testing and the development of human-machine interfaces. This work includes fringe projection, 3-D image processing and laser-based interferometry, machine learning algorithms.
